Research Committee

Responsible for identifying and utilizing resources to further research the family history.

• Responsible for collecting, compiling and organizing findings into a family tree database.

• Prepare family trees, personal biographies, etc. for distribution at annual gatherings.


Reunion Planning Committee

Responsible for planning annual reunions. This committee changes annually depending on who volunteers to host the reunion for any given year.

• Responsible for working with the corresponding secretary distribute information on the reunion. Must also keep officers informed of planning and financial needs. Must coordinate with the treasurer to coordinate payments.

• Prepares and coordinates all activities and registrations for the reunion.

Boone Family Reunion Officers

The following family members were voted in to office during the 2015 Boone Family Reunion. They will serve as officers from July 2015 through July 2017. 


President - Latia Suite, Maryland

• Responsible for overall direction and oversight of the organization and its officers.
• Responsible for identifying and establishing responsibilities/duties of all national and state level positions and committees. 
• Presides over and establishes agenda for annual business meetings and national officer meetings.
• Convenes annual meeting of national officers to analyze organizational structure, establish organization goals/initiatives and implement programs. 
​• Occasionally responsible for assisting in the physical planning of annual gatherings.
• Prepares and sends resolutions to honor deceased members.
• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.


Vice President - LaKesha Nelson, North Carolina

• Assists President in overall direction and oversight of the organization and its officers.
• Responsible for identifying and establishing responsibilities/duties of all national and state level positions and committees. 
• Co-presides over and assists in establishment agenda for annual business meetings and national officer meetings.

• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.


Correspondence Secretary - Yvonne Peebles, North Carolina

• Manages database of family member addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
• Creates annual family directory for distribution at annual gatherings.
• Serves as initial point of contact for family information concerning such matters as graduations, marriage, illness, death of a family member, etc. that requires a hospitable/sociable response from the family.
• Responsible for sending appropriate acknowledgment from the family in response to the aforementioned matters.
​• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.

• Responsible for creating and distributing biannual newsletter.


Recording Secretary - Betty Nelson, North Carolina

• Responsible for accurate recording of annual business meeting and national officer meeting proceedings.
• Delivers minutes of previous meetings at annual business meetings and national officer meetings.
• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.


Treasurer - JoAnn Sunkett, Maryland

• Assists with the collection and accurate recording of dues, scholarship donations, activity fees and other fees associated with annual gatherings.

• Manages bank accounts for organization and responsible for disbursing payments for all expenses. 

• Assists with preparing and delivering annual financial report to general body at annual business meetings.

• Occasionally responsible for assisting in the physical planning of annual gatherings.

• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.


Assistant Treasurer - William Hunt, Jr., New York

Responsible for collection and accurate recording of dues, scholarship donations, activity fees and other fees associated with annual gatherings.

• Manages bank accounts for organization and responsible for disbursing payments for all expenses. 

• Responsible for preparing and delivering annual financial report to general body at annual business meetings.

• Occasionally responsible for assisting in the physical planning of annual gatherings.

• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.


Chaplain - Michael Ingram, North Carolina

• Leads family in prayer during and or at the opening and closing of various events.
• Attends to the spiritual needs of family – makes him/herself available to any family member who desires spiritual guidance/counseling or prayer.
• Responsible for leading annual Sunday worship service.
• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.


Assistant Chaplain - Vicki Eaton, Maryland
• Leads family in prayer during and or at the opening and closing of various events.

• Serves as mentor for junior officer elect.

Fundraising Coordinator - Pamela Cousins, New York

• Develops, coordinates and manages any and all fundraising activities to help offset the cost of reunion activities. 

Junior Officers - Inactive Position

• Serve as mentee of the officer in the position to which elected.
• Responsible for taking initiative in learning responsibilities/duties of position to which elected.
​• Responsible for assisting mentor in carrying out various official responsibilities/duties.


State Representatives - Inactive Position
• Serves as a liaison between the national officers and the general body for the state in which he/she resides. 
• Responsible for disseminating current information (i.e., updates on events, activities, etc.) to family members in their state.
​• Assists with family-wide fundraisers in support of the general fund and the scholarship fund by facilitating their state’s participation.
​• Assists with expanding and updating the family directory.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for establishment of the organization's bylaws. Lead biennial general election and convene annually to review corporation’s activities and financial position. Members of the Board of Directors are:
